Antavilla

Antavilla is a small coastal municipality in the Valorian region, situated on the southern shore of the Valorian Gulf. The town centers on a compact historic core of whitewashed houses, a small harbor, and a promenading quay that overlooks sea cliffs and coves. The population is about 2,400, with many families having long ties to the area. Agriculture and fishing support a substantial portion of the local economy, complemented by seasonal tourism.

History: Antavilla traces its origins to medieval fishing communities and gained municipal status in the 19th century. It developed as an agricultural and maritime center, sustaining itself through harvests, fishing, and trade via the harbor. The town has preserved much of its historic layout despite modernization.

Economy and infrastructure: Today the economy centers on agriculture (olive oil, citrus), small-scale fisheries, crafts, and tourism. The harbor hosts boat tours and seafood restaurants. Transportation relies on regional roads and bus services; the nearest rail link is in a neighboring town, about 15–20 kilometers away. A seasonal ferry operates to a nearby island.

Culture and landmarks: The historic core includes the Church of Santa Maria and a small lighthouse at the harbor entrance. An annual harvest festival, weekend markets, and local concerts reflect the village’s traditional culture.
