They are described as amphibious coastal dwellers native to the archipelago of Iskandria on the ocean world Thalassa. Adults stand roughly 1.5 to 1.9 meters tall, with smooth blue-gray skin, webbed hands and feet, and externally visible gill slits along the neck. They have large iridescent eyes and typically display bioluminescent patches on the upper arms and chest that glow in low light. They are capable of echolocation in murky water, aiding navigation and social communication.

Social organization is traditionally organized around matrilineal clans; leadership is exercised by a council of elders and a spokesperson chosen by consensus. The primary language is Iskari, a flexible, agglutinative system; most Anrikats also speak neighboring languages in multilingual trade ports.
