Angelestype is a term used in speculative folklore and fantasy literature to denote a typology of angelic beings that function as guardians, messengers, or agents of benevolent intervention. The concept treats angelic figures as a category rather than a single entity, allowing writers and researchers to compare variations in appearance, role, and interaction with humans.

The term is a portmanteau of angel and type and is not part of established religious angelology. It began to circulate in online essays and fan communities in the early 2010s, later appearing in fiction guides and world-building discussions as a convenient framework for describing multiple celestial archetypes without prescribing a fixed canon.

Core Angelestypes commonly described include: Caretaker, a protective guardian who shields individuals or communities; Messenger, who conveys signals, warnings, or revelations; Healer, who assists with physical, emotional, or spiritual wounds; and Sentinel, who guards thresholds, places, or covenants. Some depictions combine traits or adapt the types to fit the needs of a given narrative, often imbuing each type with specific symbolism, such as light, color, or musical motifs.

In usage, Angelestype serves as a modular framework for authors and game designers to construct coherent angelic systems and to explore themes of guidance, duty, and divine intervention.
