Alumíniumszilícium

Alumíniumszilícium is the Hungarian term for aluminum-silicon alloys. These are a widely used group of metallic materials known for their favorable combination of properties, including good castability, strength, and corrosion resistance. The exact properties of an aluminum-silicon alloy depend significantly on the proportion of silicon present.

These alloys are typically classified based on their silicon content. Low-silicon alloys, generally containing up to about 5% silicon, offer excellent ductility and toughness, making them suitable for applications requiring good impact resistance. Medium-silicon alloys, with silicon content ranging from 5% to 13%, provide a balance of strength, castability, and wear resistance. High-silicon alloys, containing more than 13% silicon, exhibit exceptional hardness, wear resistance, and low thermal expansion.

Aluminum-silicon alloys are commonly produced through melting and casting processes. Alloying elements are added to pure aluminum to achieve desired characteristics. Treatments like grain refinement and modification, often with sodium or strontium, can further enhance the microstructure and mechanical properties of these alloys, particularly in cast forms.

The applications of aluminum-silicon alloys are extensive. They are found in automotive components such as engine blocks, cylinder heads, and pistons, as well as in aerospace structures, electrical components, and general engineering parts. Their versatility and cost-effectiveness contribute to their widespread use across various industries.
