AlKhazneh
Al-Khazneh, commonly known as the Treasury, is one of the most elaborate and iconic structures in the ancient city of Petra, Jordan. Carved directly into a sandstone cliff face, its intricate Hellenistic facade is a testament to the architectural and artistic prowess of the Nabataean civilization. Despite its common name, historical and archaeological evidence suggests that Al-Khazneh was likely not a treasury but rather a mausoleum for a Nabataean king, possibly Aretas IV, who reigned in the 1st century CE.
