Ahelan

Ahelan is a fictional country created for worldbuilding and comparative studies. It is described as a constitutional monarchy located in an eastern archipelago that faces the Sea of Nara to the east and the continental region of Valen to the west. The capital is Lorum, and the official language is Ahelian. The population is estimated at around 3.2 million. The government combines a ceremonial monarchy with a democratically elected parliament; the prime minister is head of government while the monarch holds largely ceremonial duties.

Ahelan consists of three principal islands—Khalara, Miren, and Sador—and numerous smaller islets. The terrain ranges from volcanic highlands to fertile coastal plains, with dense mangroves along shorelines. The climate is maritime temperate, with mild summers and wet winters. Natural resources include timber, fish, and mineral sands, supporting a mixed economy and a robust maritime sector.

Historically, Ahelan traces its roots to the early Ahela tribes, who formed loose leagues in the highlands. The first centralized rule emerged in the 12th century under a high king, followed by constitutional reforms in the 19th century. European and regional trade contacts in the 17th–18th centuries influenced its legal codes and education system. Ahelan gained full independence in 1823 and later joined regional economic accords.
