Agire
Agire is an Italian verb meaning to act, to perform an action, or to operate. It is used both intransitively and transitively, referring to taking action in a situation, carrying out a task, or causing something to happen. The term also covers the functioning of mechanisms, processes, or medicines, as in “Il farmaco agisce rapidamente.” In philosophy and ethics, agire is used to describe deliberate or intentional action, often in contrast with mere divenire or essere. The verb is formed from the Latin verb agere, meaning to do, drive, or act, and entered Italian as an irregular -ire verb with its own distinctive conjugation.
