Aerenthias

Aerenthias is a genus of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Embiotocidae, which is part of the order Perciformes. The genus is native to the waters of the Indo-Pacific region, with species ranging from the eastern coast of Africa to the western coast of the Americas. Aerenthias species are known for their distinctive appearance, characterized by a large, rounded head, a deep body, and a long, forked tail fin.

The genus includes several species, with the most well-known being Aerenthias glaucus, commonly known as the blue aerenthias. This species is recognized for its vibrant blue coloration, which is a result of iridescent scales. Aerenthias glaucus is typically found in shallow waters, often near coral reefs, and is an important food source for various marine predators.

Aerenthias species are generally small to medium-sized fish, with most species reaching lengths of around 15-20 centimeters.
