Abimus
Abimus is a historical term used in neurology to describe a dissociation between intention and motor execution: a person is aware of a goal and desires to perform a movement, but the movement is not carried out. In this sense, abimus refers to an inability to act despite the intent to act, and it has been used to describe certain functional or dissociative motor phenomena. The term is not widely used in contemporary diagnostic manuals and has largely fallen out of standard clinical practice, supplanted by more specific descriptions of functional neurological symptoms or apraxic disorders.
Clinical descriptions of abimus overlap with concepts such as conversion symptoms, functional neurological disorder, and apraxia.
Evaluation typically involves a neurological examination that tests strength, coordination, sensation, and reflexes, along with observation
