ARBeschichtung is a German term that translates to "anti-reflective coating" in English. It refers to a specialized layer applied to surfaces, most commonly to optical components such as lenses, screens, and windows, to reduce reflections. This reduction in reflection is achieved by utilizing the principle of destructive interference. The coating is designed with a specific thickness and refractive index that causes light waves reflecting off the top surface of the coating to be out of phase with light waves reflecting off the bottom surface (the surface of the substrate). When these two waves recombine, they cancel each other out, significantly minimizing the amount of light reflected away from the surface.
