AClading

AClading is a modular architectural cladding system designed to envelope buildings with lightweight, replaceable panels that can be configured for aesthetics, weather resistance, and energy performance.

The concept emphasizes adaptability and rapid on-site installation by using prefabricated panels that interlock or clip to a supporting frame, reducing labor time compared with traditional masonry or sheet-metal facades.

Typical components include exterior panels made of aluminum composite, fiber-reinforced polymer, or ceramic composites; an insulating core; a standardized subframe; and seals and fasteners. Panels are rated for wind uplift and moisture management.

Some implementations incorporate sensors and actuators to adjust shading, ventilation gaps, or panel position in response to climatic data, further reducing energy use and enabling dynamic aesthetics.

Advantages of AClading include easier maintenance and panel replacement, design flexibility, improved thermal performance, and faster installation. Limitations include higher initial cost, the need for specialized installation, compatibility with existing structures, and concerns about long-term durability and weathering.
