ACRP30

ACRP30, also known as Adiponectin, is a protein hormone primarily produced and secreted by adipose tissue, or body fat. It plays a significant role in regulating glucose levels and fatty acid breakdown. ACRP30 circulates in the bloodstream and is involved in numerous metabolic processes. The protein exists in various molecular forms, including trimers, hexamers, and higher molecular weight oligomers, which appear to have different biological activities. Levels of ACRP30 are generally inversely correlated with body fat percentage; individuals with more body fat tend to have lower circulating levels of ACRP30.

Research indicates that ACRP30 has insulin-sensitizing effects, meaning it can improve the body's response to insulin, which is crucial for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels.
