ACLadepunkten

ACLadepunkten is a term used to refer to publicly accessible alternating-current (AC) charging points for electric vehicles (EVs), forming a component of urban charging infrastructure. In contrast to DC fast charging (DCFC), ACLadepunkten deliver AC power suitable for gradual charging, typically installed in streets, parking lots, workplaces, and commercial sites.

Connectors and power: In Europe, ACLadepunkten commonly use the Type 2 (Mennekes) connector, with charging modes and power levels typically ranging from 3.7 kW to 22 kW per point, with some installations offering higher three-phase capabilities up to about 43 kW. In North America, Type 1/J1772 connectors are common for AC charging up to about 7.4–11 kW, with newer deployments supporting higher power. The charging points may be single- or multi-connection and may support smart charging and grid services.

Standards and management: ACLadepunkten generally adhere to IEC 61851 family and IEC 62196 connector standards, and often participate in network management via the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP). They usually feature metering for billing, access control through RFID cards or mobile apps, and sometimes dynamic load management to balance local grid conditions.

Deployment and role: They are a common element of public and semi-public charging networks, enabling residents without home charging, and facilitating workplace charging. Their density and power levels vary by city and policy, and ongoing upgrades focus on interoperability, user experience, and integration with smart-grid tariffs.
