ACCläget

ACCläget is an international non-profit network dedicated to fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration among arts, sciences, and technology. It provides a platform for individuals, research groups, and cultural institutions to initiate joint projects, share methods, and publish outcomes under an open-access ethos.

Established in 2012 by a coalition of artists, researchers, and educators, ACCläget was created to bridge disciplines and geographies through residencies, workshops, and online collaboration spaces. The name signals the organization’s aim to connect cultural inquiry with collaborative learning across borders.

Governance is carried out by a rotating council drawn from member institutions, supported by a small secretariat. Decision processes emphasize consensus and transparency, with working groups forming around projects and external partnerships. Membership is open to individuals and organizations that agree to the network’s principles, with dues varying by tier and activity level.

Activities include an annual symposium, a biannual residency program, and an open online repository of case studies, methods, and data sets. Notable initiatives have included Project Atlas of Shared Environments, a cross-disciplinary mapping of urban ecologies; the Lumen Commons, a participatory media-installation series; and Open Data for Arts, a guide to reusing public data in creative practice.

ACCläget emphasizes openness, reproducibility, and civic engagement. It has grown to include hundreds of member organizations and thousands of participants across multiple regions. Critics note challenges in sustaining funding and maintaining consistent governance across diverse partners, though supporters argue that the model strengthens interdisciplinary capacity and public-access knowledge.
