The 845G is a laptop-oriented variant of the 845 chipset, designed by Intel. Released in 2004, it is part of the 800 series of chipsets.

The 845G is a set of motherboard chipsets used in desktop and laptop computers. It is designed to support Intel 4th generation Pentium 4 processors, as well as Celeron and Celeron D processors. One of its key features is the inclusion of a Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900, which is an integrated graphics processing unit.

The 845G chipset also supports hardware-enhanced graphics acceleration and a wide range of display resolutions, including 640x480 to 2048x1536 at 85 Hz. Additionally, it features on-chip hardware acceleration for video playback and widescreen display resolution support.

The 845G chipset is also known for its support for hardware virtualization, an Intel-developed technology that enables multiple operating systems to exist in separate virtual environments. This chipset was widely used in the 2004 era, and was commonly bundled with Intel Pentium 4 processors.

In addition to supporting the above features, the 845G chipset also integrates an independent display controller for laptop use, for the independent control of an additional internal flat panel display, a feature particularly suited to laptops that need to display two independent graphics screens at the same time.

Compared to some of its predecessors, the 845G chipset had significant improvements in its design and functionality, including a more efficient 3D graphics engine and better performance in various applications. However, it also required a more expensive processor to back it up, and its limited memory bandwidth can sometimes result in decreased performance.
