4G5Gcore refers to the core network infrastructure that supports both 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and 5G New Radio (NR) mobile communication technologies. This core network is the central hub that handles essential functions such as user authentication, session management, mobility management, and data routing. The evolution towards 4G5Gcore signifies a transition where mobile network operators can leverage a unified or partially converged core to manage services for both generations of wireless technology.

The 4G core network, typically based on the Evolved Packet Core (EPC), provides the foundation for delivering high-speed mobile broadband. As 5G technology emerged, a new Service-Based Architecture (SBA) was introduced for the 5G Core (5GC). This SBA is designed to be more flexible, cloud-native, and capable of supporting advanced 5G features like network slicing and enhanced mobile broadband.

In a 4G5Gcore environment, operators can implement strategies such as Non-Standalone (NSA) deployments, where 5G NR leverages the existing 4G EPC for control plane functions, or Standalone (SA) deployments, which utilize the full 5GC. The goal is often to gradually migrate towards a full 5GC while maintaining backward compatibility with 4G services, optimizing resource utilization and operational efficiency.
