240SX

The Nissan 240SX is a sports car produced by Nissan Motor Company. It was manufactured from 1988 to 1998 and was sold in its first generation as the Silvia S13 and in its second generation as the Silvia S14. The 240SX was marketed in North America and other markets as a replacement for the Nissan 200SX.

The first generation 240SX, produced from 1989 to 1994, was based on the Nissan S13 Silvia chassis. It was available as a two-door coupe and a hatchback. Powering the first generation was a 2.4-liter inline-four engine, the KA24E in early models and the KA24DE in later models. The KA24DE featured dual overhead camshafts and offered improved performance over the KA24E. The car was rear-wheel drive and offered a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.

The second generation 240SX, produced from 1995 to 1998, featured a more sculpted design and a revised interior. It was also based on the S14 chassis. The engine remained the 2.4-liter KA24DE, with minor updates. The second generation was only offered as a coupe. This generation also featured a slightly wider track and longer wheelbase than its predecessor.

The 240SX gained a significant following among enthusiasts, particularly for its rear-wheel-drive platform, affordable price, and tunability. It became popular in drifting and motorsports circles due to its balanced chassis and readily available aftermarket support. Production of the 240SX ended in 1998, with no direct successor in the North American market, though the Silvia line continued in Japan.
