The object was first observed by the Pan-STARRS survey at the Haleakala Observatory in Hawaii on 12 March 2023. The discovery was reported by Pan-STARRS on 15 March 2023. It was officially numbered by the Minor Planet Center on 20 May 2023 after its orbit was confirmed by subsequent observations from several observatories, including the European Southern Observatory’s La Silla telescope.
