13731399 is a designated minor planet located in the outer region of the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The object was first observed by the Pan-STARRS survey at the Haleakala Observatory in Hawaii on 12 March 2023. The discovery was reported by Pan-STARRS on 15 March 2023. It was officially numbered by the Minor Planet Center on 20 May 2023 after its orbit was confirmed by subsequent observations from several observatories, including the European Southern Observatory’s La Silla telescope.

The asteroid orbits the Sun with a semi-major axis of approximately 3.2 astronomical units, an orbital period of 5.71 years, an eccentricity of 0.07, and an inclination of 5.3 degrees relative to the ecliptic. Its absolute magnitude is estimated to be 15.8, corresponding to a diameter of around 4.5 kilometers under assumed albedo conditions. The spectral classification of 13731399 has not yet been determined, and no rotational lightcurve data are available, leaving its shape and rotation period unknown.

Several follow-up photometric observations are being planned to determine its rotation characteristics and to search for any potential binary companion. The minor planet remains in the provisional catalogue until its orbital parameters are refined.
