12633 is a numbered minor planet located in the central region of the asteroid belt. It was discovered on 15 April 1997 by astronomer K. Kataoka at the Kuki Observatory in Japan. The provisional designation of the asteroid was 1997 FY. After its orbit was sufficiently well determined, it was assigned the permanent number 12633 by the Minor Planet Center.
