Üveggyártási refers to the process of manufacturing glass. Glass is an amorphous solid that is typically transparent and brittle. The most common type of glass is soda-lime glass, which is made from a mixture of silica sand, sodium carbonate (soda ash), and calcium oxide (lime). These raw materials are heated to very high temperatures, usually in a furnace, until they melt into a molten liquid.

Once molten, the glass can be shaped into various forms through several methods. Blowing is a traditional technique where a gather of molten glass is inflated with air through a blowpipe to create hollow vessels like bottles and jars. Pressing involves pouring molten glass into a mold and applying pressure to shape it. Rolling is used to create flat sheets of glass, often for windows, by passing the molten glass between rollers. Float glass is a modern method for producing high-quality flat glass by floating the molten glass on a bath of molten tin, creating an exceptionally smooth and uniform surface.

After shaping, the glass undergoes annealing, a controlled cooling process that reduces internal stresses and prevents the glass from cracking. This is typically done in an annealing lehr. Further finishing processes might include cutting, grinding, polishing, or coating depending on the intended application of the glass product. Glass is a versatile material used in countless applications, from construction and automotive industries to everyday tableware and scientific equipment.
