Ísuch is a fictional city in the archipelago of Vespera, created for world-building and narrative works. The name derives from a constructed language spoken by early settlers, with í indicating high tone and such meaning harbor in that tongue.

Geography and urban layout: The city sits on the southern shore of the island of Lira, guarding a natural harbor. It is divided into districts such as the Old Harbor Quarter, the Lantern District, and the Upper Promenade. The town’s shoreline is lined with breakwaters and a cliffbound seawall.

History: Ísuch's founding dates to the early centuries of Vesperan seafaring, when traders established a safe harbor for provisioning caravans and fishing fleets. It grew as a commercial hub after the opening of southern sea routes, endured a devastating fire in the Great Blaze of 312, and was rebuilt in stone and glass.

Culture and society: The population is diverse, with speakers of Ísuni and several creole varieties. Local customs emphasize maritime work, music, and lantern-lit markets. The Lantern Festival marks the start of the planting season, while sea chants are performed at dusk along the harbor.
