Értékfilozófia, also known as axiology, is a branch of philosophy that studies the nature of values and valuation. It explores what things are good, bad, desirable, or undesirable, and the principles that underlie our judgments about them. Axiology is broadly divided into two main areas: ethics, which deals with moral values, and aesthetics, which deals with artistic and sensory values.

Within ethics, axiology examines concepts like right and wrong, justice, virtue, and happiness. It seeks to understand the basis of moral claims and how we ought to live. Philosophical inquiries in aesthetics often involve analyzing artistic creations, critical judgments, and the subjective experience of appreciation.

Beyond ethics and aesthetics, axiology also considers other forms of value, such as economic, political, and religious values. It investigates how these different value systems interact and influence human behavior and societal structures.
