Överfullt

Överfullt is a Swedish adjective describing something that is full to capacity, stuffed, or crowded beyond what can reasonably be accommodated. The term conveys that there is little or no room for additional content or people and often implies a sense of being stretched beyond limits. It is commonly used for physical spaces, containers, and situations where capacity is exceeded.

Grammatically, överfullt has forms that align with Swedish gender and number. The neuter singular predicate form is usually överfullt (as in rummet är överfullt). For common gender nouns, the form is typically överfull (as in lådan är överfull). The prefix över- indicates excess or beyond, and full or fylld conveys that something is packed or filled to the brim. In phrases, överfullt can also appear with a complement such as "av" to express what causes the overfull state, for example, överfullt av människor.

Usage and nuance: överfullt is used about physical items and spaces, such as rooms, bags, and shelves, as well as about crowds or collections that exceed capacity (e.g., en konsert som var överfullt med publik). It can also be used metaphorically to describe overloaded systems, schedules, or lists. The word often carries a mildly negative connotation, signaling inconvenience or impracticality due to lack of space.
