Összesítés

Összesítés is a Hungarian term describing the process of bringing together separate data points or values to form a single summary measure. It is used in mathematics, statistics, data processing, and business reporting.

The term derives from the prefix össze- meaning together and the suffix -ítés, indicating an action or process; in practice, összesítés denotes aggregation or compilation.

In mathematics, összesítés generally refers to the summation of numbers or quantities—the operation of adding values to obtain a total. In broader usage it can also mean general summation or compilation of items.

In statistics and data processing, összesítés denotes producing higher-level metrics by aggregating data across observations, groups, or time periods. Common methods include sums, counts, averages, minimums, maximums, and percentiles. In practice this is implemented with SQL aggregate functions and GROUP BY, or in spreadsheet software via functions such as SUM, COUNT, AVERAGE, and pivot tables.

In business reporting and accounting, összesítés is used to consolidate line items, roll up figures by department or region, and prepare financial statements or performance dashboards. It often serves as a basis for budgeting, forecasting, and trend analysis.
