Érzéskiesés

Érzéskiesés is a Hungarian term that translates to "feeling loss" or "sensory deficit." It refers to a subjective experience where a person reports a diminished or absent sensation in a particular part of their body. This can encompass various sensory modalities, including touch, temperature, pain, or proprioception.

The phenomenon can be temporary or persistent and may be associated with a wide range of underlying causes. Neurological conditions are a common culprit. Damage to nerves, the spinal cord, or the brain can disrupt the transmission of sensory signals, leading to érzéskiesés. Examples include peripheral neuropathy, stroke, or spinal cord injury.

Psychological factors can also contribute to or manifest as érzéskiesés. In some cases, it can be a symptom of somatoform disorders or conversion disorders, where emotional distress is expressed through physical symptoms without an identifiable organic basis. Anxiety and stress can also heighten or alter sensory perception.
