Çin, officially known as the People’s Republic of China, is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world’s most populous country, with an estimated population of over 1.4 billion people as of recent estimates. Located in the eastern part of the continent, China shares borders with 14 sovereign states, including Russia, North Korea, and India. Its vast territory spans diverse geographical regions, from the Tibetan Plateau to the coastal plains of the East China Sea.

China has a long and rich history, with one of the oldest continuous civilizations in the world. Ancient Chinese civilization emerged along the Yellow River (Huang He) and Yangtze River valleys. The country has been home to numerous dynasties, including the Qin, Han, Tang, and Ming, each leaving a significant cultural and architectural legacy. Modern China was established in 1949 following the Chinese Civil War, when the Communist Party of China (CPC) led by Mao Zedong declared the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The Chinese economy is the world’s second-largest by nominal GDP and the largest by purchasing power parity. It has transitioned from a centrally planned economy to a market-oriented system, with significant economic reforms since the late 20th century. Major economic hubs include Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, which have become global centers for trade, technology, and finance. China is a member of the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and other major international organizations.

Culturally, China is renowned for its traditions, including Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism, which have deeply influenced its society, governance, and arts. The country is famous for inventions such as paper, gunpowder, the compass, and printing, many of which were pivotal in shaping global history. Modern China continues to develop rapidly, balancing economic growth with social and environmental challenges while maintaining a unique blend of ancient heritage and contemporary innovation.
