Ájulásként

Ájulásként, commonly translated as fainting or syncope, refers to a temporary loss of consciousness caused by a sudden decrease in blood flow to the brain. This reduction in cerebral perfusion can result from various underlying physiological mechanisms. One of the most frequent causes is vasovagal syncope, triggered by stimuli such as prolonged standing, heat, emotional distress, or pain. This triggers an overreaction of the nervous system, leading to a drop in heart rate and blood pressure.

Other forms of syncope include orthostatic hypotension, where blood pressure fails to adequately adjust when changing from a lying or sitting position to standing. This can be due to dehydration, certain medications, or underlying medical conditions. Cardiac causes, such as arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) or structural heart problems, can also lead to syncope by impairing the heart's ability to pump blood effectively. Neurological conditions, while less common, can also manifest as syncope.

Symptoms preceding an episode of ájulásként often include dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, a cold sweat, blurred vision, and a feeling of warmth. The actual loss of consciousness is typically brief, lasting only seconds to a few minutes. Upon regaining consciousness, individuals may experience confusion or weakness. Diagnosis usually involves a thorough medical history, physical examination, and sometimes further tests like an electrocardiogram (ECG) or tilt table testing to identify the specific cause. Treatment depends on the underlying reason for the syncope.
