Yönäkökamerat, also known as night vision cameras, are electronic devices that capture images in low-light conditions. They function by amplifying available ambient light, such as moonlight or starlight, to produce a visible image. This is typically achieved through an image intensifier tube. These tubes contain a photocathode that converts photons into electrons, which are then accelerated and strike a phosphorescent screen, creating a brighter image.

Modern night vision cameras often employ digital sensors instead of image intensifier tubes. These digital sensors can operate in two primary ways. The first is by amplifying existing light, similar to analog systems but using digital signal processing. The second is by utilizing infrared (IR) illuminators, which emit invisible infrared light that reflects off objects and is then detected by the camera's sensor.
