This is in contrast to sequential logic, where the output also depends on the past history of inputs. In a combinational logic circuit, there is no memory element; the circuit's state changes instantaneously with any change in input.

The fundamental building blocks of combinational logic are logic gates such as AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, XOR, and XNOR gates. These gates perform basic Boolean operations on binary inputs to produce a binary output. By combining these gates in various configurations, more complex combinational circuits can be designed to perform specific functions.
