Wiringcoated is a general term used to describe electrical conductors that carry an insulating coating or jacket applied to the conductive core. The coating provides electrical insulation, mechanical protection, and environmental resistance, enabling safe operation in a range of electrical and electronic installations.

Coatings and materials vary by application. Extruded polymer insulation such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), polyethylene, or fluoropolymers is common for power and building wiring, offering different voltage ratings and temperature tolerance. For compact windings in motors and transformers, magnet wires use thin enamel coatings based on polyamide, polyesterimide, or polyimide resins. Flexible cords may employ silicone or other elastomeric jackets to improve flexibility and resistance to oils or chemicals.

Manufacturing involves preparing the conductor, applying the coating by extrusion or enamel application, and curing or cooling. The finished product is tested for insulation resistance, dielectric strength, and insulation thickness. Temperature ratings typically range from around 60–90°C for basic wires to 125°C or higher for specialized cables, while voltage ratings depend on construction.

Applications include household wiring, appliance cords, automotive wiring harnesses, electronic interconnects, transformers, and motors. Wiringcoated products are designed to meet standards from agencies such as IEC, UL, CSA, and others, which specify acceptable materials, thickness, flame performance, and electrical properties.
