Weatherrapid is a weather forecasting system that provides rapid, locally resolved updates designed for timely weather decisions. It targets short time horizons, from minutes to a few hours, with frequent refreshes to track rapidly changing conditions such as thunderstorms, heavy rain, and wind shifts.

The system blends data from Doppler radar, satellite imagery, automated weather stations, and high-resolution short-range models. It uses nowcasting techniques to extrapolate observed motion and state for the near term, supplemented by machine learning–based bias correction to produce probabilistic forecasts and uncertainty estimates. Output is designed to be timely and spatially detailed, with forecast grids suitable for urban as well as rural areas.

Key features include a web interface, mobile apps, an API for integration with other tools, customizable alerts, and map layers showing precipitation, wind, and temperature. Outputs often include short-range hazard alerts, hourly precipitation probabilities, and storm-tracking information.

Weatherrapid serves sectors such as aviation, outdoor event management, agriculture, and emergency response, where rapid updates can inform operational decisions. While useful as a supplementary source for decision-making, it is not a substitute for official forecast services. Limitations include potential false alarms, reduced accuracy in regions with sparse radar coverage, and the inherent uncertainties of short-range weather prediction.
