Waterscheid, often written as Wasserscheide in German, is a hydrological term referring to the boundary that separates neighboring drainage basins. In English, the equivalent concept is typically called a watershed or drainage divide. The spelling waterscheid may appear as an anglicized variant or a misspelling in non-specialist texts.

A waterscheid is the line along which precipitation on one side drains toward one outlet (such as a river, lake, or coastal basin) and precipitation on the other side drains toward a different outlet. The boundary usually follows high ground, ridges, or impervious divides in the landscape, though the exact line can be complex in uneven terrain. Delineation of a waterscheid defines the extent of a drainage basin or catchment area.
