Visszakeresés is a Hungarian term used in information science and computing to denote the retrieval of data from stored records or the tracing of information back to its source. Etymologically, vissza means back or again, and keresés means search, so the term literally denotes a “search back” or “retrieval.” In practice, visszakeresés can describe several related activities: retrieving previously indexed results in a search system; performing a reverse lookup that maps from an identifier to a human-readable record or from an IP address to a domain; reconstructing a data path or provenance in algorithmic or data-processing contexts; and tracing references in bibliographic or archival work to locate related materials.
