Visió is the Catalan word for "vision" and refers broadly to the faculty or process of seeing, the interpretation of visual stimuli, and the figurative concept of foresight or a guiding idea. Etymologically it derives from the Latin visio, meaning an act of seeing.

In biological terms visió involves the eyes, the optic nerves, and the visual cortex of the brain. Light is focused by the cornea and lens onto the retina, where photoreceptor cells convert it to neural signals transmitted to the brain. Key aspects include visual acuity, color perception, depth perception, and motion detection. Common disorders affecting visió include refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism), cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and retinal detachment.

In psychology and neuroscience visió is studied as perception: how sensory input is organized, interpreted, and integrated with memory and attention. Research addresses visual processing pathways, object recognition, and visual attention, as well as developmental and cognitive disorders that affect visual interpretation.

Visió also denotes conceptual or strategic foresight, as in an individual’s or organization’s long-term plan or creative perspective. In technology, the term applies to computer vision, the field enabling machines to interpret visual data through algorithms and artificial intelligence.

Public health efforts emphasize regular eye examinations, correction with lenses or surgery when appropriate, and preventive measures such as workplace ergonomics and protection from ultraviolet radiation to preserve visió.
