Viszkoelasztikusság is a material property that describes materials exhibiting both viscous and elastic characteristics when undergoing deformation. Viscous materials, like honey, resist flow and dissipate energy, while elastic materials, like rubber, return to their original shape after stress is removed. Viscoelastic materials show a combination of these behaviors. When a stress is applied, a viscoelastic material will deform partially elastically and partially viscouésly. Upon removal of the stress, the elastic portion of the deformation is recovered instantly, while the viscous portion recovers slowly, if at all. This time-dependent response is a hallmark of viscoelasticity. Examples include polymers, biological tissues, and some metals at elevated temperatures. The behavior of viscoelastic materials is often described by mathematical models that incorporate spring elements (for elasticity) and dashpot elements (for viscosity). Key phenomena associated with viscoelasticity include stress relaxation, where stress decreases over time under constant strain, and creep, where strain increases over time under constant stress. The degree to which a material is viscous or elastic depends on factors such as temperature, strain rate, and the material's molecular structure.
