vesipuitedirektiivistä
The Water Framework Directive, commonly known in Finnish as vesipuitedirektiivi, is a cornerstone piece of European Union legislation aimed at protecting and improving the quality of water bodies. Officially Directive 2000/60/EC, it establishes a framework for the management of water resources across the EU member states. Its primary objective is to achieve "good status" for all rivers, lakes, groundwater, and coastal waters by 2015, with subsequent deadlines for more challenging objectives.
The directive emphasizes an integrated approach to water management, considering all aspects of the aquatic environment.
