Venitusmõõtur, also known as a strain gauge, is a sensor used to measure strain or deformation in an object. It works by detecting changes in electrical resistance that occur when the material to which it is attached is stretched or compressed. A typical venitusmõõtur consists of a thin, flexible backing material with a metallic foil pattern etched onto it. This foil pattern acts as the resistive element. When the object under test deforms, the backing material and the foil also deform, causing the foil to stretch or compress. This change in physical dimensions alters the electrical resistance of the foil.
