valtiopäivä
Valtiopäivä is a Finnish term that translates to "parliamentary session" or "session of the Estates." Historically, it referred to the formal meetings of the Finnish Parliament, which was composed of four Estates: the clergy, the nobility, the burghers, and the peasantry. This structure was in place during the period of Swedish rule and later under Russian autocratic rule until the early 20th century. The Diet of Porvoo in 1809 marked the first official valtiopäivä under Russian rule, where Tsar Alexander I swore to uphold the Finnish constitution.
