vakioluku

Vakioluku is a term used in Finnish-language mathematics to denote a numeric constant whose value does not depend on the variables in an expression. It derives from vakio, meaning "constant," and luku, meaning "number." In English contexts it is usually translated as "constant number" or simply "constant."

In mathematics, a vakioluku remains fixed as other quantities vary. In a typical linear function f(x) = mx + b, the coefficients m and b are vakioluvut with respect to x, while x is a variable. Vakioluvut are defined by the problem statement, initial conditions, or external constraints.
