Vadiba is an extinct genus of early aurornithiform bird that lived during the Paleocene to early Eocene epoch, around 60-35 million years ago. The name "Vadiba" is derived from the Latin word "vado," meaning "I go or walk," which is a reference to the bird's likely bipedal gait.

Fossil remains of Vadiba have been found in North America, specifically in the age-deposited sediments of the Willwood Formation in Wyoming. The genus was first described in 1963 by paleontologist Eugene Gaffney. Since then, several species of Vadiba have been identified and described through various fossil discoveries.

Vadiba is characterized by its distinctive combination of archaic and modern avian characteristics. It exhibits a mix of primitive traits, such as a short, broad rostrum and a wishbone-shaped furcula, alongside more advanced features, including a well-developed sternal keel and the presence of small, fused carpals in the wing. This unusual combination of traits suggests that Vadiba occupied a unique position in the evolutionary tree of birds.

The exact relationships of Vadiba within the avian phylogenetic tree are still a subject of ongoing research and debate. Some studies have suggested that the genus is most closely related to the waterfowl or grebe lineage, while others propose a more distant relationship to the landbirds.
