Utómunkái, or utómunka (post-production), refers to the stages that follow principal photography or recording to finalize a media project. The term is used across film, television, video production, photography, and audio music production. It encompasses technical and creative tasks aimed at turning raw material into a coherent finished product.

Typical processes include editing, which assembles shots into scenes and sequences; color grading or correction to achieve a consistent look and mood; sound design, Foley, and dialogue editing; music composition, scoring, and mixing; and visual effects such as compositing and CGI integration. Subtitling and localization, including dubbing or captions, are common for distribution. Quality control tests ensure technical specifications (format, frame rate, audio channels) are met, and mastering prepares final deliverables for broadcast, cinema, or streaming, with various formats and archiving versions.

Workflow often involves a post-production supervisor coordinating editors, colorists, sound engineers, and VFX artists. Some tasks run in parallel with production, while others wait for cut approvals. The choice of tools includes nonlinear editors (for example, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve), audio workstations (Pro Tools), and visual-effects software (After Effects, Nuke).

In Hungarian usage, utómunkái may be used to refer to the post-production aspects of a particular project or, in compounds, to the project’s post-production outputs as a whole. The concept is integral to media creation, affecting pacing, tone, and technical quality.
