Uplifts refer to processes and outcomes characterized by upward movement or improvement.

In geology, uplift refers to the long-term vertical rise of portions of the Earth's crust above sea level. This vertical movement can result from tectonic plate collision and crustal thickening, mantle convection, or volcanic loading, and may be followed by isostatic rebound when surrounding areas erode or ice loads change. Geological uplifts occur on timescales of millions of years; notable examples include the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau during the India-Asia collision and the uplift associated with the Andes and other mountain belts, as well as post-glacial rebound in previously glaciated regions.

In meteorology and climatology, uplift describes the upward movement of air parcels in the atmosphere. Mechanisms include convective lifting due to surface heating, orographic lifting as air flows over mountains, and frontal lifting where warm air rises over colder air. Uplift promotes cloud formation and precipitation and is a key factor in weather systems and climate patterns.

In economic and social contexts, uplift denotes improvement in living standards, income, health, or education, often as a result of development programs, policy reforms, or economic growth. The term is used descriptively rather than as a precise technical measure, and uplift can be evaluated through indicators such as GDP per capita, literacy rates, or life expectancy.
