Typical duties include assisting with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility; supporting with hygiene and personal care; helping patients with meals and nutrition; monitoring health status, observing symptoms, and recording vital signs. They may perform basic nursing tasks such as wound care and helping with rehabilitation exercises, ensure patient comfort and safety, and participate in infection control and cleanliness. Education for undersköterskor is usually obtained through upper secondary vocational programs, such as the Vård- och omsorgsprogrammet, which lead to the formal title undersköterska.
