Ultradilute is a term used to describe a substance that has been diluted to an extreme degree. This concept is primarily associated with homeopathic medicine, where remedies are prepared by repeatedly diluting a source material in water or alcohol. The process typically involves succussion, which is a vigorous shaking of the mixture, between each dilution. Homeopathic dilutions are often expressed using a numerical scale, such as 3X, 6C, or 200C, where "X" denotes a 1:10 dilution and "C" denotes a 1:100 dilution. Higher numbers indicate more repetitions of the dilution and succussion process.

At high dilution levels, such as those commonly found in homeopathic remedies, the original source material is often present in such minuscule quantities that it is statistically unlikely for even a single molecule of the original substance to remain. This has led to significant scientific skepticism regarding the efficacy of ultradilute substances beyond a placebo effect.
