Tüdembóliát is a Hungarian term that translates to pulmonary embolism in English. It refers to a blockage in one of the pulmonary arteries in the lungs. Most commonly, this blockage is caused by a blood clot that travels from the legs or other parts of the body to the lungs. This can happen when a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) forms in the legs and a piece of the clot breaks off, traveling through the bloodstream to the lungs. Other less common causes of pulmonary embolism include fat emboli, air emboli, or tumor fragments.

The symptoms of tüdembóliát can vary widely depending on the size and location of the blockage. Common symptoms include sudden shortness of breath, chest pain that may worsen with breathing, coughing (sometimes with blood), rapid heart rate, and lightheadedness or dizziness. In severe cases, it can lead to fainting or even sudden death.
