törmäyslasien
Törmäyslasien, also known as safety glass or laminated glass in English, is a type of glass designed to break in a predictable and relatively safe manner. It consists of two or more layers of glass bonded together with a plastic interlayer, typically polyvinyl butyral (PVB). When subjected to impact, the glass layers may crack, but the PVB interlayer holds the fragments together, preventing them from scattering dangerously. This makes törmäyslasien significantly safer than ordinary annealed glass, which shatters into sharp shards.
The primary application of törmäyslasien is in situations where occupant safety is paramount. This includes automotive
The manufacturing process involves heating and pressing multiple layers of glass and the PVB interlayer together
