Typenoksideja is a term that appears in some Finnish-language sources to refer to nitrogen oxides, a class of gaseous inorganic compounds composed of nitrogen and oxygen. The most important members are nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), which together are commonly grouped as NOx. In standard chemical nomenclature the term typenoksideja is not widely used, and it may be encountered as a variant spelling or regional usage for typpioksidit (nitrogen oxides).

Chemical forms and properties

NO and NO2 are the dominant NOx species in the atmosphere. Other nitrogen oxides related to NOx, such as N2O3, N2O4 and N2O5, can form under specific conditions, but NO and NO2 are the most relevant for air quality and environmental impact.
