Tynnyri is the Finnish term for a barrel, a cylindrical container traditionally built from curved wooden staves and bound by metal hoops. Barrels have been used for centuries to store and transport liquids such as water, beer, wine, and spirits, and they have also served in aging and flavoring some beverages. The design maximizes rigidity while keeping the contents sealed and easy to handle.

Construction and materials commonly involve wooden staves shaped to fit together, with hoops that hold the assembly tight.
