Trinational is an adjective used to describe something that involves or concerns three distinct nations. It is commonly applied in geography, international relations, and sociology. In geography and regional planning, trinational describes cross-border areas or initiatives that involve three sovereign states, either at a tri-point where borders converge or through formal cooperation frameworks that span three countries.
