Tragan, also known as Tragopogon, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, commonly referred to as buckwheat. The genus includes about 100 species, which are native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, including Europe, Asia, and North America. Tragopogon species are biennial or perennial herbs, typically growing to a height of 30-120 cm. They are characterized by their compound leaves, which are divided into leaflets, and their inflorescences, which are composed of small, yellow or white flower heads.
